SENATE PRESIDENT PRO TEM PHIL BARUTH ISSUES STATEMENT FOLLOWING THE ENACTMENT OF H.706, THE POLLINATOR PROTECTION BILL

Montpelier, Vt. - Senate President Pro Tem Phil Baruth today issued the following statement on the enactment of H.706, the pollinator protection bill.

“Governor Phil Scott vetoed H.706 on World Bee Day, a symbol of his approach to the environment. Today, I’m proud of the Vermont Senate for overriding his veto and demonstrating our commitment to protecting pollinators, the livelihood of farmers and supporting a healthy ecosystem for all Vermonters. H.706 will protect our bees and other pollinators from the dangerous effects of neonicotinoid pesticides while providing farmers ample opportunity to transition to safer alternatives. There can be no farms or food without pollinators."
